“Sütlaç”: Oven-baked rice pudding
Pour pre-boiled milk into a saucepan over low heat. Add a packet of whipping cream powder and whip. Stir in sugar and rice and continue to cook over low heat. In a separate bowl mix starch with enough water and milk to dissolve and fold slowly into the milk mixture in saucepan. Continue to cook over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Divide into serving bowls and let rest until the top curdles.
Add 2 inches of water to baking tray. Set bowls on the tray, place the tray on the upper rack of the oven and bake until the top layers begin to turn brown. Remove from oven, let cool and serve.
